Mental Health Advising

  • I support educational programs to proactively and reactively meet the mental health and wellness needs of their students, participants, and staff.

  • Having spent significant time leading and directing gap year programs, I combine my background in developmental psychology and personal coaching with my lived experience traveling in community with students and staff to provide exceptional and authentic support on all program levels, from the C-suite to the field.

  • Some of the services I provide include:

    • On-call support for organizational leadership and field staff for arising mental health needs & crises

    • Staff training and education for proactive and reactive participant mental health support

    • Educational content creation to inform best-practice mental health readiness and response

    • Program support for developing inclusive policies and practices for diverse participant needs

    • Professional coaching to program staff and participants to prevent burnout and promote individual wellness

Community Wellness

  • I provide in-person and virtual leadership for educational programs seeking to boost student wellness across academic, behavioral, community, domains, including:

    • Creating community inclusivity norms and DEIB standards that honor diverse identities

    • Training staff on inclusivity and wellness practices, such as Nonviolent Communication, Restorative Justice, Conflict Transformation, and Mindfulness, to facilitate brave and open community spaces

    • Designing behavioral interventions to improve student conduct and increase individual and community accountability

    • Providing guidance to faculty on academic and behavioral accommodations for individualized learning and wellness needs

  • Community Wellness support serves any community striving to lead with values of intention and inclusion, while deconstructing traditional oppressive systems of marginalization and power.

    I typically provide Community Wellness support for immersive, experiential education programs that teach young people how to live and learn in community with others. (See programs listed above.)

  • I provide virtual and in-person inclusive community container-setting experiences and trainings, from short practices (a few hours) to extended immersion (a few weeks). Let me know what your program is calling in and we can dream up our best fit!

  • I train staff how to lead intentional, inclusive communities that honor individual and shared strengths and needs. Specifically, I currently offer trainings on:

    • Mental Health and Wellness: Proactive & Reactive Supports for Thriving on Program - Learn the 5C cycle for compassionate care and the mental health stoplight for psychological first aid

    • ABC’s: All Behavior is Communication - Learn how our values, needs, and emotions drive human behavior and how to support each other to become our best selves

    • Restorative Conversations - How programs can bring in restorative frameworks to support positive student behavior and accountability

    • Understanding Executive Functioning - How to support students with executive functioning needs (ASD, ADHD, LD, etc.) to thrive on program

  • I provide 1:1 coaching to remote/field staff to navigate challenging dynamics that commonly arise on program.

    I then collaborate with organizational leadership to determine helpful interventions for on-going staff and program success.
